Common questions
How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?
A US seller pays $0.20 listing + 6.5% transaction (on item + shipping) + 3% + $0.25 processing ≈ 9.7% + $0.45 per sale. Sellers in 9 countries add a regulatory operating fee of 0.05–1.97%; non-VAT-registered sellers in the UK/EU/AU/NZ pay local VAT on top of Etsy's fees.
Does Etsy charge 6.5% on shipping too?
Yes — the transaction fee applies to item price plus the shipping you charge and gift wrap. Building postage into your price does not avoid it.
What is the regulatory operating fee?
Etsy's pass-through of local digital services taxes. Since June 22, 2026: UK 0.48%, Canada 0.50%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, France 1.14%, Vietnam 1.24%, Türkiye 1.67%, Hungary 1.97%, India 0.05%. Charged on item price + shipping.
Do UK sellers pay VAT on Etsy fees?
Not VAT-registered: Etsy adds 20% VAT on every fee (6.5% transaction fee is effectively 7.8%). VAT-registered: fees are reverse-charge zero-rated once your VAT ID is on file.
Is the Offsite Ads fee mandatory?
12–15% per attributed order, capped at $100. Over $10,000 trailing-365-day sales: mandatory at 12%. Below that: 15%, opt-outable.
How do I price an item to keep a target profit?
Work backwards — decide the profit you need, then divide by what remains after percentage fees. Use the reverse pricing tool above; it handles your country, ads and VAT automatically.
